Family Dental Insurance
Our family has a great family dental insurance plan. We live in Columbus, Ohio and have a dental plan through UnitedHealthOne. We have a fifty dollar deductable, meaning that we pay for the first fifty dollars of major dental work that is needed then the insurance plan picks up most of the costs. We also pay a monthly premium that's only around $75 for my entire family. If you were to add up all the costs of the procedures we have done every year we save a lot of money. We save thousands of dollars per year. My daughter needed fillings done and we actually got them done for only $18 each, because once we deductable we only paid 20%. My other daughter had to get a crown and root canal. The retail cost on that was over two thousand dollars, but with United Dental Insurance we only paid like $500.
If we would have had to pay for that I think we may still be paying on them. She really needed the rootcanal. My son has had over fifteen cavities and the cost to fill just one is over one hundred dollars if you pay retail. Needless to say he eats a lot of sweets and he doesn't brush his teeth right. I myself had had a few root canals at the cost of seven hundred dollars each without the insurance. Then I had a couple of crowns put on at the cost of a thousand dollars each. With insurance we only pay a fraction of the cost.
Of course our family dental insurance covers is our teeth cleanings. We each get two done a year and x-rays and exams.
Each time we get our teeth cleaned, not to mention the x-rays that go along with that, it would cost over two hundred and fifty dollars, so to me dental insurance is very important. It has saved our family thousands of dollars per year and if you are lucky enough to have dental insurance make sure to use it. Many companies these days do not even offer it, so we consider ourselves very lucky to be able to buy UnitedHealthOne dental insurance.
